Founded in 1861, the National Gallery of Victoria is Australia’s oldest public art museum with a rich history and world class collection of over 70,000 works. Looking out from the top of Renzo Piano’s iconic design is just as inspiring as looking at the building itself. Europe’s tallest skyscraper offers views of London’s seemingly endless urban sprawl. The Let’s Create Jubilee Fund will ensure that thousands of people from communities all across England will have the opportunity to take part in exciting creative events in celebration of the Platinum Jubilee. Showcasing internationally renowned and Designated collections of fine art, decorative art and costume. Arts and Culture is a dynamic and busy team, and it’s my job to help it run smoothly.

The fund will help you to share your learning, gain new ideas, access funding and develop partnerships across sectors. Our mission is to activate creativity, and we like to do this by joining things up. We’re part of the University of Exeter community of staff and students, and we’re also part of the community of cultural organisations and creative practitioners working in the South West. We want to encourage more purposeful encounters across both, and support joint creative working. There are so many inspiring arts and culture projects taking place on and around our campuses.

I’m here to help tell the story of these projects, spreading the word about a variety of inspiring events, research, commissions, collaborations and more. Using skills and knowledge learned from my background in arts marketing, my responsibilities include managing our website, social media, PR and other channels that allow us to raise awareness of the creativity happening around us. Making and experiencing arts and culture transforms quality of life for individuals and communities. Take a look at the work we’re doing to support health and wellbeing and help us to spread the word about how art can make us feel better.

The museum will be closed to the public from Sunday 29 August 2021 until late 2022. We are fascinated by the creative process and better understanding how it works.

I am Senior Lecturer in Literary Studies at the University of Exeter, and Academic Director for Arts & Culture . I have active research and teaching interests at the intersections of the arts, humanities and natural/social sciences, and frequently collaborate with artists and researchers on a range of transdisciplinary projects. I have a background in museum and gallery learning with a particular focus on creativity and the creative process. My role is to steer and guide the delivery of the Arts and Culture strategy. This involves lots of great conversations with fascinating people – both inside and outside the university – quite a bit of planning and writing, many meetings, and occasional workshop delivery.
